Latest update from the BVRLA

New analysis from the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Office for National Statistics has revealed that above average rainfall is directly linked to the level of serious injuries sustained by drivers in the UK.

Meanwhile, the DfT has also ruled out reintroducing road safety targets, with a spokesperson saying “local authorities are best placed to decide how to use these frameworks to make their roads safer, rather than having centralised national targets.”

Elsewhere, Highways England has confirmed its plan to increase the visibility of all speed cameras on the strategic road network by painting them yellow. Since 2006, motorway cameras have been painted grey, causing many motorists to suggest that their installation was aimed at raising revenue, not improving road safety.
